Lost their loved ones and pets – resulting in weak strength of emotions

Hundreds and hundreds of animals have been killed and many surviving animals have had to be taken into care – this has resulted in lesser animals in the bush, and a forced adjustment to the natural food chain.

Donations of money from the general public, corporate businesses and even overseas helped to boost the financial outcome of victims as well as putting cash back in the economy.

Lost their homes and properties – resulting with no shelters for the victims of Black Saturday. Tent cities were erected in parks, caravans were leant out and motels lowered their rates.

Ash and other materials from the fires contaminated many reservoirs and dams – resulting in water needing to be treated and at times, shifted to other dams.

Cash grants of up to $5000 from the government have helped the victims to recover and rebuild.

Lost their work places & businesses – resulting in loss of income and less money.

Millions of acres of bush land have burnt, blackening everything and crippling trees and plants. Food and crops had disappeared leaving nothing for animals or the farmers who harvest them.

The bushfires have destroyed businesses and other places of income, crippling the financial status in many places.

At least 804 victims of Black Saturday were admitted to hospitals within the first 80 hours of Black Saturday. People suffered major burns and many died in hospitals.

Insurance interest rates rose because of the mass amount of destruction.
